A lifetime fascinated by the depths of the ocean and the possibility of the existence of mermaids, Desiree Ruiz creates a window to this fascinating world we have yet to fully discover. "Ally" is a one of a kind, hand painted original oil painting on gesso board (a textured board made of wood). The piece is a heavily textured oil painting, executed with a palette knife and impressionistic brush strokes.

"Ally" depicts a sea-horse-like siren as she guards the coral reefs during the time seahorses move into deeper waters to escape the rough weather in winter. It is the artist purpose to bring awareness to the dangers these sea creatures face day by day in their habitats.
