Have you heard of “shadow work”?

It’s the very principle that fueled this self-portrait.

It’s the psychological practice that seeks to understand, accept, and even coexist with our “shadow self”. Our “shadow” is all that which our ego has tried to repress throughout the years.

In a more academical sense:

“The shadow is the “dark side” of our personality because it consists chiefly of primitive, negative human emotions and impulses like rage, resentment, hatred, envy, greed, selfishness, desire, and the striving for power.”

It is truly an interesting topic, specially as it is a tool used to better understand ourselves as individuals.

Learning about your shadow is not a comfortable journey, it can be quite disturbing if you don’t go into it with an open mind.
